Uncovering Roots: About me

I'm a California girl who discovered God in the midwest. These entries are part of my journey in discovering who I am, for what purpose do I live and how should I live. My hope is that my musings cause the reader to be provoked, changed and experience more joy.

Throughout the course of my 22 years on this earth, I've seen destruction, beauty, sorrow, happiness and most of all the Creator of everything. Naturally a verbal processor, many times when I write it's the first time I'm articulating a thought or emotion. Another thing, I don't like to edit what I write. I feel as though it loses the spontaneity, vulnerability and real-ness of that which comes forth from the heart.

A couple more fun facts about me:

I'm an engaged, to be married to Kyl on June 15th, 2013 and I plan to document the adventure of our life together via this blog.

I live in Kansas City, Missouri. It's the second place I've ever lived, San Diego being the first.

I work for an anti-trafficking organization called Exodus Cry where I am the Intervention Coordinator, visiting and building relationship with the sexually exploited in my city.

I love fresh flowers scattered throughout my apartment.

I have an addiction to purchasing used books from Amazon, which is why I'm excited to pass on my ever-growing library to my children.

I firmly believe coffee is way better than tea. Next comes horchata, mmm yum!

I believe in the right to bear arms.

I am a self-professed Scrabble queen.

I've been able to travel to Canada, Mexico, Australia and Brazil. Next on my list are Amsterdam and Israel.

My two favorite words are whimsical and bohemian.

I really love cats.

I am adopted.

I love the prayer movement which is why Kyl and I are wholeheartedly committed to the raising up houses of prayer in the nations coupled with works of justice. We are a part of IHOPKC.
